Himachal CM Alleges Centre Blocked ₹1,600 Crore After OPS, Unveils ₹188.8 Crore Projects in Karsog

The chief minister casts the rollout as a response to what he says is a ₹1,600 crore shortfall tied to OPS.

Overview

  • At a Karsog public meeting on Saturday, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu accused BJP leaders of hindering additional borrowing permissions from the Union government and claimed funds were withheld after OPS was restored.
  • Sukhu inaugurated and announced projects worth ₹188.8 crore for the region, including upgrading GSSS Karsog to a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School with CBSE affiliation, a milk processing plant, and a 66 kV substation.
  • He said the ITI building would be completed with new AI and machine learning courses and that a radiologist will be appointed at Karsog Hospital, alongside improvements to the Tattapani–Bakhrout road and new Patwar Circles.
  • The government sanctioned ₹7 lakh each for 94 houses fully damaged in recent monsoon disasters, and Sukhu said ₹1,500 payments to eligible women under the Pyari Behna scheme are being released in phases.
  • Separately, he launched a 60‑day Tobacco‑Free Youth Campaign and flagged off 26 advanced life support ambulances to strengthen emergency care, adding to the existing 241-vehicle 108 service fleet.
