Hilton Rolls Out In‑App Pay With Points for Digital Checkout

Hilton says the feature will encourage members to use Points on hotel bills by letting eligible elites apply Points to folio charges inside the app.

Overview

  • Hilton announced the launch of Pay with Points and began a live test at 150 U.S. hotels, with the company planning expansion to more than 800 properties by the end of 2026 and to over 6,000 U.S. and Canada hotels in early 2027.
  • The feature works during the Hilton Honors app Digital Check Out and lets members with Silver status or higher apply Points against eligible folio charges such as food, drinks and spa services.
  • An internal memo to hotel owners, reported alongside the launch, says properties will be reimbursed for the full retail value of charges covered by Points which reporters say will lower the cents‑per‑point value of these redemptions compared with free‑night awards.
  • The owner memo also notes the test uses Hilton’s Property Engagement Platform, selected hotels were chosen for high digital‑checkout use, and redemptions completed in the app cannot be reversed by hotel staff.
  • This follows a long history of hotel programs offering on‑property redemptions and establishes a trade‑off for members between convenience and likely lower per‑point value, while Hilton frames the change as a way to boost on‑property spending and streamline checkout.
