Hillshire Recalls 58 Million Pounds of Corn Dogs and Sausage-on-a-Stick Over Wood Contamination

FSIS urges disposal of affected items during recall-effectiveness checks.

Overview

  • The voluntary recall was announced Sept. 27 after multiple consumer complaints, with five injuries reported.
  • Affected products were produced from March 17 to Sept. 26, 2025 at a Haltom City, Texas facility and distributed nationwide through retail, online sales and food service.
  • Recalled items bear establishment numbers EST-582 or P-894 and include select State Fair corn dogs and Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick.
  • Company investigators found wooden sticks entered the line before battering, leading to wood pieces embedded in the batter.
  • Products also reached school districts and Department of Defense facilities through commercial sales, and FSIS will post retail distribution lists and advises return or disposal of any affected items.
