Hiker Rescued After Falling From Tree, Surviving Five Days in Washington Woods

A resident’s 911 call led coordinated search teams to find him at dawn.

  • A Suquamish resident heard faint cries around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, and alerted emergency services.
  • Multiple agencies including the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Explorer Search and Rescue, Kitsap Search Dogs, Olympic Mountain Rescue and the Suquamish Tribal Police Department joined the search.
  • Crews located the hiker at approximately 7 a.m. on June 21 and carried him out on a stretcher for evacuation.
  • He was transported to St. Michael’s Medical Center for evaluation, and his condition remained unclear as of June 24.
