Hiker Falls to Death in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge

Young woman separated from friends and went off trail near Horsetail Falls, officials report

Elisha Angelic Macias, 22, fell approximately 50 to 60 feet from a cliff.
The incident occurred near the Oneonta Trailhead, about 35 miles east of Portland.
Bystanders attempted CPR but she was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and medical examiner are investigating the cause of death.
A volunteer trauma support group provided resources to those affected by the incident.
