Highway 50 Eastbound Connector Closures Underway in Sacramento Through Monday Morning

The shutdown advances Fix50 repairs to add HOV lanes between I-5 and Watt Avenue.

Overview

  • The 56-hour operation began Friday at 9 p.m. and is scheduled to end Monday at 5 a.m., as crews replace pavement near the Business 80 and Highway 99 connectors.
  • Connectors closed include eastbound US 50 to eastbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway and eastbound US 50 to southbound State Route 99.
  • Additional closures include the 16th Street on-ramp to eastbound US 50 and the eastbound US 50 off-ramp to 59th Street, with detours in place.
  • Eastbound drivers are directed to exit at 65th Street, loop onto westbound US 50, then use Exit 6B for southbound 99 or Exit 6C for northbound Business 80, with I-5 routes advised for some trips.
  • A 55 mph work-zone speed limit is being enforced, and nightly closures of the #4 lane between 24th and 26th streets run from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.; Caltrans says additional 56-hour weekends later in October are tentative.
