Overview
- Punjab and Haryana High Court refused to stay two CBI cases against Harcharan Singh Bhullar and fixed the matter for the second week of January.
- A CBI court extended the judicial custody of Bhullar and co-accused Krishanu Sharda until December 10 after his production via video link.
- The trial court issued notice to the agency on a defence plea to preserve CCTV from the Mohali–Chandigarh route and call-detail and tower data of two CBI officials, with a reply due December 8.
- CBI filed a roughly 300-page chargesheet on December 3 alleging Bhullar sought a ₹5 lakh bribe and monthly illegal gratification to ‘settle’ an FIR against a scrap dealer.
- The chargesheet cites seized phones and chats that the agency says show attempts to influence judicial officers, and earlier searches recovered ₹7.36 crore in cash and jewellery worth about ₹2.32 crore, triggering a separate disproportionate-assets case.
