Overview

  • The state signed the Mustervereinbarung on Aug. 21 in Wiesbaden, with Economic and Transport Minister Kaweh Mansoori and Brigadegeneral Holger Radmann as signatories.
  • Military oversized and heavy transports as well as convoy movements no longer require separate road-traffic permits on Hessian roads.
  • Hessen Mobil fully updated the state’s military road network to define approved routes and operating conditions for rapid movements.
  • The agreement was drafted by a federal–state coordination committee and is now being circulated to all Länder and Autobahn GmbH for signature, with the goal of nationwide adoption.
  • Officials say the change responds to the security situation caused by Russia’s war in Ukraine and will strengthen the readiness of the Bundeswehr and NATO partners.
