Herschend Shutters Georgia’s Malibu Norcross in Post-Merger Portfolio Trim
The move follows three park sales to Lucky Strike Entertainment.
Overview
- Malibu Norcross, a go-kart venue in Gwinnett County, Georgia, closed on September 28 after more than two decades in operation.
- Earlier this year Herschend sold Raging Waters Los Angeles, Castle Park in Riverside, and Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro to Lucky Strike Entertainment.
- With three sales and this closure, Herschend has shed 20% of the 20 properties it acquired from Palace Entertainment.
- The company has not provided reasons for individual transactions, though reporting notes a roughly $1.1 billion loan taken around the time of the acquisition.
- Post-merger visitation is reported at about 20 million annually, and Dollywood remains the flagship with new attractions planned for 2026.
