Hero Launches First Domestic Flex Fuel Motorcycles

The company says the new models run on E85 and will enter limited sales in July as a step toward higher-ethanol fuel use in India.

Overview

  • Hero officially unveiled the Splendor Plus Flex Fuel and HF Deluxe Flex Fuel at a Delhi event on June 4 where Union minister Nitin Gadkari took part.
  • The HF Deluxe Flex Fuel is positioned as the country's cheapest flex‑fuel bike with an ex‑showroom price of Rs 72,792 and the Splendor Flex Fuel starts at about Rs 82,710.
  • Hero engineered E85 capability through multiple hardware and software changes, including a specially calibrated ECU, a new fuel pump and a secondary air filter, and says the E85 tune raises output to about 8.4 bhp and 8.3 Nm.
  • Both models keep consumer features such as Hero’s i3S start‑stop, a digi‑analog instrument cluster, side‑stand engine cut‑off and tubeless tyres while showing unique graphics and minor mechanical tweaks.
  • Hero will begin sales in July 2026 in Delhi and select areas of Maharashtra with a wider nationwide rollout later, a move that could lower crude import dependence and shift running‑cost math as ethanol blends change fuel efficiency and price dynamics.
