Hermosillo Prosecutors Probe Gasoline Bottles Found at Elementary School, Linked to Threats Against Mechanic

Investigators say the devices were intended to intimidate a nearby workshop owner.

Overview

  • Four glass bottles containing gasoline were found inside Vicente Guerrero Elementary in Colonia El Ranchito on September 9, leading to a temporary suspension of classes.
  • Preliminary findings indicate two individuals went to the mechanic’s shop and escaped over the school’s wall, leaving four bottles and a black backpack.
  • Municipal police, firefighters, civil protection, SEDENA, AMIC and FGJES personnel responded to secure the area and reported no damage to the school facilities.
  • The bottles and the backpack were placed under forensic custody for chemical and ballistic analysis as part of the open case file.
