Hermosillo Executes Independence Day Traffic Closures as Civic-Military Parade Proceeds

Authorities implemented a preplanned operation emphasizing route security with limited disruption to main junctions.

Overview

  • Transit officials confirmed the parade began at 8:00 a.m. at Bulevar Rosales and Colosio and advanced north to Morelos and Bulevar Kino.
  • Closures followed a staged schedule with Bulevar Hidalgo shut from 3:00 p.m. on Sept. 15 and additional route restrictions moving from partial at 6:00 a.m. to full by 7:00 a.m. on Sept. 16.
  • Access around the Palacio de Gobierno, Plaza Zaragoza, and the Cathedral was restricted to residents within the perimeter.
  • Traffic officers staffed the route while allowing passage only at key crossings, including Rosales–Encinas, Garmendia–Rodríguez, Yáñez–Rodríguez, Veracruz–Rodríguez, Nayarit–Rodríguez, and Morelos–Heriberto Aja.
  • The Municipal Police deployed about 300 personnel with K-9 and special units to support the events and maintain preventive patrols, and drivers were urged to use caution near the route.
