Henrik Lundqvist Inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame

Lundqvist Joins Barrasso, Turgeon, Vernon, Ouellette, Hitchcock, and Lacroix in 2023 Induction Class

  • Henrik Lundqvist, the former New York Rangers goaltender, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday night, marking the culmination of a series of milestones over the last 38 months, including his retirement and the retirement of his No. 30 by the Rangers.
  • Lundqvist, known as the 'King', is the winningest European-born and trained goaltender in NHL history, with 459 victories, and is the only goalie in NHL history to win more than 20 games in 13 straight seasons.
  • Other inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame included Tom Barrasso, Pierre Turgeon, Mike Vernon, and Caroline Ouellette in the player category, and Ken Hitchcock and the late Pierre Lacroix in the builder category.
  • Caroline Ouellette, a legendary Canadian forward, became the 10th woman in the history of the sport to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, having won four Olympic gold medals and six World Championship gold medals throughout her international career.
  • Ken Hitchcock, who was the head coach for five different franchises throughout his Hall of Fame career, ended his career with 849 wins, the fourth most of any NHL coach in the league's history.
