Hemant Soren to Be Sworn in as Jharkhand Chief Minister for Second Term

The JMM-led INDIA bloc secured a decisive majority in the state assembly elections, with Soren set to take the oath on November 28.

Hemant Soren, leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has been unanimously elected as the legislature party leader of the INDIA bloc in Jharkhand.
The JMM-led alliance, including Congress, RJD, and CPI (ML), won 56 out of 81 seats in the state assembly, surpassing the majority mark of 41.
Soren met Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on November 24, tendered his resignation as acting chief minister, and staked his claim to form the new government.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for November 28 at Morabadi Ground, with discussions ongoing about the composition of the new cabinet.
The opposition BJP-led NDA secured only 24 seats, with the JMM emerging as the largest party with 34 seats in the assembly.
