Overview
- Personal Independence Payment is assessed on how your condition affects everyday activities, not on any specific medical label.
- PIP has two parts — daily living and mobility — with weekly rates of £73.90 or £110.40 for daily living and £29.20 or £77.05 for mobility.
- Payments are usually made every four weeks, or weekly if you are terminally ill, and are paid directly into your bank, building society or credit union account.
- Assessors consider whether you can do tasks safely, how long they take, how often you’re affected, and whether you need support from a person or equipment.
- To start a claim, contact the DWP via GOV.UK and have your contact details, National Insurance number, bank details, relevant dates and addresses, and healthcare contacts ready.
