Overview
- Under questioning on Thursday, Ibrahim Helmy acknowledged asking contractor Peco Jankulovski to delete an email about a $190,000 payment, saying it was wrong and would be evidence of an improper arrangement.
- Helmy admitted directing invoices to his private email to inflate amounts, keeping a spreadsheet that logged original and inflated figures and the planned split, which shifted from roughly 70–30 to 50–50.
- The inquiry heard he received envelopes of cash from Complete Linemarking, with messages arranging handovers at the back of an Oporto in Wetherill Park and a 2015 photo of labeled cash bundles from his home.
- Helmy told ICAC that about 90% of his benefits came via cryptocurrency, with additional benefits including gold bars, gift cards and in‑kind services linked to multiple contractors.
- Police arrested Helmy on 26 September after four months on the run, and he remains in custody as hearings continue with no criminal charges laid to date.
