Overview

  • The Bell 407 helicopter went down on June 15 during dense fog en route from Kedarnath to Guptkashi, killing all seven aboard, including a two-year-old child.
  • Rajveer Singh Chauhan, a retired Indian Army lieutenant colonel with over 2,000 flying hours, joined Aryan Aviation Pvt Ltd after his September 2024 retirement.
  • On June 17 in Jaipur, Chauhan’s last rites were held with full military honours as his widow, Lt. Col. Deepika Chauhan, led the funeral procession and saluted in uniform.
  • The pilot and his wife had been preparing for their four-month-old twin sons’ naming ceremony on June 30 before the tragedy struck.
  • Uttarakhand authorities have halted helicopter services on the Char Dham circuit for two days as part of safety reviews and the ordered investigation.
