Heisman Finalists Set: Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza Leads 2025 Field

Post–title-weekend ballots elevated the Indiana quarterback after a 13-0 finish that secured the CFP’s top seed.

Overview

  • The Heisman Trophy Trust named four finalists: Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia, Ohio State QB Julian Sayin and Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love, with the winner to be announced Dec. 13 in New York on ABC.
  • Fresh off a 13-10 Big Ten title win over Ohio State, Mendoza enters as the clear favorite after a season with 2,980 passing yards, an FBS-best 33 touchdown passes, 71.5% completions, and six rushing scores.
  • Pavia produced 3,192 passing yards, 27 TDs, 826 rushing yards and nine rushing TDs, led Vanderbilt to 10 wins, and became the school’s first Heisman finalist despite the Commodores missing the CFP field.
  • Sayin posted 3,323 yards, 31 TDs and an FBS-leading 78.4% completion rate; Ohio State earned the CFP’s No. 2 seed following the narrow championship-game loss to Indiana.
  • Love rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns with 280 receiving yards and three scores, as Notre Dame fell short of the playoff and chose not to play in a bowl game.
