Overview
- 1. FC Heidenheim confirmed the signing of Thomas Dähne on a contract running through 2028.
- Dähne was able to join Heidenheim on a free transfer after TSV 1860 München failed to raise €2.3 million for a 3. Liga license, a shortfall that triggered the club's forced relegation and left some players without Regionalliga deals.
- Dähne said conversations with Heidenheim officials gave him a very good feeling and that he wants to help the team on and off the pitch immediately.
- Heidenheim CEO Holger Sanwald said the club expects Dähne’s personality and experience to benefit the squad, particularly its younger goalkeepers.
- Dähne arrives with multi-country experience from clubs including Holstein Kiel, RB Salzburg, HJK Helsinki and Wisła Płock, and he consulted former 1860 figure Vitus Eicher before the move as Heidenheim rebuilds after recent relegation.
