• Over two years, Cheng spent more than 4.3 million yuan at the Hefei salon on unlicensed detox and wellness services including skin-breaking needle detox, enemas and body-part massages.
• Salon staff employed emotional manipulation and commission-based incentives to repeatedly pressure him into topping up his account.
• Instead of the promised benefits, Cheng developed chronic diarrhoea and persistent, unhealed needle marks.
• He discovered the salon lacked a medical licence and was denied a refund when he demanded one.
• On July 9, Hefei police and the Market Supervision Bureau confirmed a joint investigation into the salon’s alleged illicit medical practices.
