IMD Predicts Formation of Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal, Expects Heavy Rainfall in Coastal Regions

Heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu has led to the closure of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in several districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Puducherry.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal around November 16.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Conditions in Chennai are expected to remain generally cloudy, with moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning likely in some areas. The maximum temperature is likely to be 26-27°C and the minimum temperature around 23°C.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in many places over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal area, with thunderstorm and lightning expected at a few places over the Interior Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area.
