Heavy Rain Swamps Delhi Under IMD Orange Alert, Triggering Jams and Flight Delays

Overview

  • IMD measured 56.2 mm at the primary station between 8:30 and 11:30 am, with 34.8 mm at Lodhi Road and 11.8 mm at Aya Nagar.
  • Delhi Traffic Police flagged snarls on the DND Flyway, Mathura Road, Vikas Marg, ISBT, Geeta Colony and Rajaram Kohli Marg, and said teams were deployed to manage the flow.
  • Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory saying operations are currently normal, but 235 flight delays were reported earlier in the day.
  • Delhi Metro said a technical fault on the Yellow Line reported in the morning has been resolved.
  • IMD expanded an orange alert to cover the capital for three hours in the afternoon and forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and 30–40 kmph gusts in the near term.
