  • Localized heavy rain fell across Marathwada on Thursday, with 31 revenue circles in Beed, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani and Hingoli recording more than 65 mm in a single day.
  • The highest single-day measurement was 126 mm in the Zari revenue circle of Parbhani district, followed by 112.5 mm in Sirsala (Beed) and 111.5 mm in Pedgaon (Parbhani).
  • Despite the downpours, Marathwada has received 423.3 mm of rain so far in the monsoon season against a normal 679.5 mm, leaving a deficit of about 37.3 percent.
  • Two separate lightning strikes in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district killed five people in Wahulkheda (Kannad tehsil) and Dahigaon (Sillod tehsil) and left several others injured who are receiving treatment.
  • Officials from the Divisional Commissioner’s office are monitoring conditions and relief needs as the showers give only patchy respite to farmers and communities still facing an overall shortfall.
