Overview

  • The Heat added Thompson to their projected 18-player training camp roster with an Exhibit 10 camp tryout contract announced on August 14.
  • Earlier that day Miami traded for Thompson’s G League returning rights from the Osceola Magic in exchange for draft picks and Justin Champagnie’s rights.
  • The Sioux Falls Skyforce officially acquired Thompson’s G League rights and can bring him back as a returning-player asset.
  • Under Exhibit 10 rules, Miami can convert Thompson’s contract to a two-way deal or waive him and award him up to an $85,300 bonus if he spends 60 days with the Skyforce.
  • Thompson, undrafted in 2021, averaged 17.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists for Osceola last season and earned third-team All-G League honors during a 2023 breakout with Mexico City.
