Sunday is an Impact Day as Northern California braces for more heat with many Valley locations expecting triple digit temperatures.

Overview

  • A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Monday night from Yuba City northward as valley highs hover near 100°F under smoky skies.
  • Wildfire smoke drifting in from dozens of active Western fires has kept air quality at moderate levels in the Valley and unhealthy for sensitive groups in the Sierra.
  • A low-pressure disturbance arriving late Monday will enhance Delta Breezes, driving a roughly 10°F temperature drop across the Sacramento Valley starting Tuesday.
  • Valley highs are forecast to fall into the upper 80s–low 90s, foothills into the low 90s and Sierra highs into the upper 70s–low 80s through Thursday.
  • Southerly moisture drawn in by the disturbance is expected to fuel isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the Sierra beginning Wednesday.
