Hearst Newspapers Acquires Puzzle Gaming Platform Puzzmo
Puzzmo to be Rolled Out to Over 50 Hearst Publications and Other Publishers
- Hearst Newspapers has acquired Puzzmo, a puzzle gaming platform developed by indie game developers Zach Gage and Orta Therox.
- Puzzmo features a variety of games, including Gage-designed classics like SpellTower, Typeshift, and Really Bad Chess, as well as new games like Flipart and a daily crossword puzzle.
- Puzzmo will be rolled out to readers of more than 50 Hearst publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle and Popular Mechanics.
- Other publishers, including Digg, Postmedia, and Polygon, will also be licensing Puzzmo games, with each publisher getting a branded version of the Puzzmo site.
- A subscription to Puzzmo Plus, priced at $40 a year, offers benefits like access to the archives, an extra profile to share with a family member, the ability to make own groups, no ads, and access to leaderboards.
