Health Officials Link Chavegrand Cheeses to 21 Listeriosis Cases, Triggering Broad Recall

  • Santé publique France and the Agriculture Ministry say a possible link exists between 21 listeriosis infections, including two deaths, and pasteurized soft cheeses produced by Fromagerie Chavegrand.
  • Over 40 lots of camemberts, bries, chèvres and other soft cheeses sold through retailers such as Leclerc, Carrefour, Lidl, Auchan and U have been listed on Rappel Conso for immediate recall.
  • Consumers holding recalled products are urged to discard or return them and to seek medical advice if they experience fever, headaches or muscle aches, with pregnant women, elderly and immunocompromised people warned of higher risk.
  • Fromagerie Chavegrand states all affected batches originated from a production line closed in early June and that thousands of follow-up tests in the facility have not detected Listeria.
