Overview
- The specification supports 16K resolution at 60Hz and 12K at 120Hz with chroma subsampling while enabling uncompressed 4K at 240Hz with 12-bit color.
- Ultra96 cables, certified by the HDMI Forum, are the only cables capable of sustaining the full 96Gbps throughput required by HDMI 2.2.
- Backward compatibility ensures HDMI 2.2 cables and devices will default to the highest available HDMI version when paired with older ports or cables.
- A new Latency Indication Protocol (LIP) will improve audio-video synchronization in complex home theater and AV receiver setups.
