HD KSOE Buys Doosan Vina for W290 Billion to Expand Eco-Ship Supply in Vietnam

The buyer seeks to tap IMO-driven demand by converting the site into an independent-tank hub.

Overview

  • HD KSOE signed a 290 billion won (about $207 million) deal to acquire 100% of Doosan Enerbility’s Vietnamese unit, according to a regulatory filing on Wednesday.
  • The purchase transfers all Doosan Vina shares to HD KSOE and was described by the company as enabled by aligned interests and government support.
  • Doosan Vina operates a manufacturing complex in the Dung Quat Economic Zone near Da Nang that has produced boilers, port cranes and LNG plant modules since 2006.
  • HD KSOE plans to keep current operations while repurposing the facility into a production base for independent cargo tanks and a regional hub for port cranes in Asia.
  • Doosan Enerbility said it will deploy the proceeds to expand capacity in small modular reactors as well as gas turbines.
