Overview
- The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has been instructed to remove Mohammed Azharuddin's name from the North Pavilion Stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
- Justice V. Eswaraiah, HCA’s Ombudsman, determined that Azharuddin, as HCA president in 2019, acted in his own interest by renaming the stand without General Body approval.
- The decision followed a February 2025 petition by Lords Cricket Club, citing violations of HCA’s Memorandum of Association and internal governance rules.
- The HCA has also been directed to stop printing tickets with Azharuddin’s name during the ongoing IPL 2025 season, which still includes several matches at the stadium.
- Azharuddin has denied any wrongdoing and announced plans to challenge the Ombudsman’s ruling in the High Court.
