HBO's 'House of the Dragon' season 2 is slated for a premiere in early summer 2024, continuing the story of the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Season 2 will see the return of major characters from season 1, including Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon II Targaryen and Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, the main players in the conflict for the Iron Throne.
The new season also includes new cast members Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, Gayle Rankin, and Abubakar Salim in key roles, expanding on the narrative's intrigue in Westeros.
Production on 'House of the Dragon' season 2 concluded earlier in the year with Ryan Condal as the showrunner, despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The series is a production of the UK's actor union Equity and not the Screen Actors Guild.
HBO is also planning another 'Game of Thrones' spinoff, titled 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight', with filming set to commence post the actors' strike resolution.
