Overview

• HBO cast newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout as Harry, Hermione and Ron after an open audition attracting more than 30,000 children.
• McLaughlin appeared in Sky’s comedy Grow, Stanton led the West End production of Matilda and Stout is making his first major screen debut.
• The veteran supporting cast includes John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Filch.
• J.K. Rowling is among the executive producers alongside showrunner Francesca Gardiner, director Mark Mylod, Warner Bros. Television, Brontë Film and TV and Heyday Films.
• Casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann helmed the months-long search, reviewing up to 1,000 audition tapes per day.
