HBO Plans Sequel to Robert Durst True Crime Series 'The Jinx' for 2024 Release

New six-part series will cover the years following Robert Durst's confession in the initial series, chronicling his life up until his death in prison in 2022, and featuring previously unseen material, prison phone calls, and interviews with new witnesses.

  • HBO has announced a six-part sequel to its true-crime series 'The Jinx,' set to release in 2024, which will cover events following Robert Durst's confession in the initial series up until his death in prison in 2022.
  • The original team, including director Andrew Jarecki, are involved in the sequel, which will present new material and interviews, as well as Durst’s prison phone calls.
  • Although Robert Durst was convicted of murdering his best friend, Susan Berman, in 2021 and sentenced to life imprisonment, he died of cardiac arrest in prison in January 2022.
  • Despite denying killing his wife, Kathleen McCormack, and Berman, Durst was later indicted for his first wife's murder in November 2021, based on arguments that he killed Berman to prevent her from disclosing her involvement in covering up McCormack's murder.
  • The original 'Jinx' series, released in 2015, was notable for sparking a great interest in true crime series and for its shocking conclusion where Durst, unaware that he was still mic’d up, said to himself, 'Killed them all, of course.'
