HBO Max Raises Prices Across All Plans Effective Immediately

Warner Bros. Discovery says higher rates reflect HBO Max’s quality during an industry-wide shift in streaming prices.

Overview

  • New monthly prices are $10.99 for Basic with Ads, $18.49 for Standard, and $22.99 for Premium, with annual plans set at $109.99, $184.99, and $229.99.
  • Changes apply now for new subscribers; existing monthly customers get 30 days’ notice and will see higher bills on or after November 20, 2025, with annual plans increasing at renewal.
  • The increases follow CEO David Zaslav’s September remarks that the service was "way underpriced," with a password-sharing crackdown also signaled for the future.
  • HBO Max’s Standard tier now costs slightly more than Netflix’s Standard plan, and the move coincides with recent hikes at Disney+ and Apple TV+.
  • The announcement arrives as Warner Bros. Discovery conducts a strategic review following takeover interest, after reverting to the HBO Max brand and a prior hike in June 2024.
