HBO Max Orders Two Drama Pilots From Jeremy Carver and Berlanti/Doran Team

Both pilots are positioned to test the “The Pitt” playbook of longer runs on modest budgets.

Overview

  • Warner Bros. Television will produce both one-hour projects for HBO Max under existing overall deals.
  • American Blue follows Brian “Milk” Milkovich as he returns to Joliet, Illinois, to help revive a beleaguered police force while pursuing personal redemption.
  • Jeremy Carver will write and executive produce American Blue under his Warner Bros. TV deal, with Brian Udovich also aboard as an executive producer.
  • How to Survive Without Me will be written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, with a story by Berlanti, Doran and Robbie Rogers.
  • Robbie Rogers, Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman will executive produce the family drama via Berlanti Productions, and both projects are at the pilot stage without series pickups.
