HBO Max Hikes Prices Across All Plans, Effective Immediately for New Sign-Ups

The increases reflect a profitability push during WBD's strategic review.

Overview

  • New monthly rates are $10.99 for Basic With Ads (+$1), $18.49 for Standard (+$1.50), and $22.99 for Premium (+$2).
  • Annual plans rise to $109.99 (With Ads), $184.99 (Standard), and $229.99 (Premium), up $10, $15, and $20 respectively.
  • Existing monthly subscribers will see higher charges on their next billing date on or after Nov. 20, 2025, with 30 days' notice; annual subscribers pay the new rates at renewal.
  • CEO David Zaslav previously said HBO Max was "way underpriced," and this is the first increase for the ad-supported tier.
  • HBO Max's Standard plan now slightly exceeds Netflix's comparable tier, and the move lands as rivals raise prices and WBD evaluates potential sale or a planned split, with 125.7 million paying subscribers reported as of June 30.
