Overview

• Filming began mid-July at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, marking the start of the decade-long, seven-season adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novels.
• HBO released the first official image of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
• The supporting cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
• Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod are leading production in collaboration with HBO, Brontë Film and TV, Warner Bros. Television and Heyday Films.
• Production will run through spring 2026 ahead of a planned 2027 premiere on HBO and HBO Max, with each season dedicated to an individual book.
