Overview

  • At the July 3 meeting in Köln, club representatives voted 22–19 against putting the 19-team expansion bid on the agenda, so no formal vote on growth took place.
  • Dessau-Roßlauer HV’s 30:24 win in the June 29 replay against TuSEM Essen finalized ASV Hamm-Westfalen’s drop from the 2. Bundesliga.
  • The replay was ordered by the DHB-Bundesgericht on June 12 after Dessau fielded an extra player in the final seconds of their original 28:27 victory on April 27.
  • ASV managing director Markus Fuchs said the joint proposal aimed to highlight procedural shortcomings and prevent prolonged disputes in future seasons.
  • The league will proceed with 18 teams in 2025/26, and HBL officials plan separate reforms to streamline protest and assembly procedures.
