Overview

• Hayward Police Department officers arrived just before 9 a.m. Saturday at an apartment complex on Depot Road following reports of a domestic disturbance.
• They found a 25-year-old woman in the stairwell who said her boyfriend had physically assaulted her, prompting her to stab him in self-defense.
• Inside the unit, officers discovered a 30-year-old man with a fatal stab wound and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
