Hayley Kiyoko to Direct Feature Film Adaptation of 'Girls Like Girls'

Focus Features has acquired worldwide rights to 'Girls Like Girls,' a film adaptation of Hayley Kiyoko's viral 2015 song and music video.
The film will be Kiyoko's first as a feature director and co-writer, with Stefanie Scott, who starred in the original music video, as her co-writer.
'Girls Like Girls' explores themes of first love and self-acceptance, continuing Kiyoko's commitment to creating hopeful queer narratives.
The project is backed by Marc Platt Productions and BuzzFeed Studios, with a team of producers that includes Marc Platt and Katie McNicol.
Kiyoko's 2023 novel of the same name debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list for Young Adult Hardcover and remained in the top 10 for seven weeks.
