Hayden Panettiere, co-star in the Scream franchise, has spoken out against the firing of Melissa Barrera, calling it 'unfair and upsetting'.
Barrera was fired from the upcoming Scream VII after making statements supporting Palestinians during the ongoing Israel-Hamas War, which were deemed antisemitic by the production company, Spyglass Entertainment.
Following Barrera's dismissal, co-star Jenna Ortega and director Christopher Landon also left the project.
Panettiere reached out to Barrera after her dismissal, noting that many hadn't asked how she felt about the situation.
Barrera has been described as a 'badass' by Panettiere, who believes she took the firing in stride and was gracious about it.
