Hawaii Doctor Arrested for Alleged Attempted Murder of Wife on Hiking Trail

Dr. Gerhardt Konig remains in custody as his wife, Arielle Konig, fights for her life in critical condition following the alleged attack at the Pali Lookout in Oahu.

Dr. Gerhardt Konig, a 46-year-old anesthesiologist, allegedly attacked his wife, Arielle Konig, during a hike at the Pali Lookout in Oahu, Hawaii, on March 24, 2025.
The alleged attack reportedly began after Arielle refused to take a picture with her husband, leading to him pushing her off the trail, striking her with a rock, and attempting to harm her with syringes.
Arielle Konig, 36, sustained severe head and facial injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition as of March 26, 2025.
Dr. Konig was arrested near the Pali Highway after a brief foot chase later that evening, and charges of attempted murder are pending as the investigation continues.
Konig, who had recently relocated to Hawaii for work, has been suspended from his position as an anesthesiologist at Maui Health pending the outcome of the investigation.
