- The attack reportedly began after Arielle, a 36-year-old nuclear engineer, refused to take a picture with her husband during their visit to the popular tourist site.
- Konig allegedly also tried to harm his wife with syringes during the assault, according to law enforcement sources.
- Arielle sustained severe head and facial injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition, while Konig was arrested after a six-hour manhunt near Pali Highway.
- Konig, who worked as an anesthesiologist in Maui, has been suspended from his position pending the ongoing investigation, with charges against him still under review.
