Overview

• Dorset Police named Hassan Babaker, 35, of Felling in Tyne and Wear, as the defendant charged with dangerous driving.
• The collision occurred at about 9:29pm on September 29 on the A31 between Stag Gate and the Roundhouse Roundabout and involved an unmarked police car and a white BMW.
• Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the officer who was trapped on the driver's side of the police vehicle.
• The officer was treated in hospital and later discharged with injuries described as not life-threatening or life-changing, and no injuries were reported to the BMW’s occupant.
• The Serious Collision Investigation Team is continuing enquiries and is appealing for witnesses and relevant dashcam or CCTV footage.
