Hashdex Adds Hyperliquid Token to Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF

A 3.36% allocation under the index’s rules signals deeper institutional integration following the issuer’s filing to expand Chardan financing capacity.

Overview

  • The Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF (NCIQ) added Hyperliquid’s native token effective September 1, bringing the fund’s holdings to nine assets and assigning the token a 3.36% weight.
  • Hashdex said the inclusion followed the index’s rule set for market cap, liquidity, custody and regulatory standards rather than a discretionary choice by the manager.
  • Hyperliquid Strategies filed with the SEC to raise its Chardan equity financing capacity from $1 billion to $2.5 billion, a change that expands available funding capacity but does not mean proceeds have been raised.
  • Market activity responded modestly: the token traded around $83 after the change and an analyst reported a roughly $11.8 million single-day purchase by a large investor, a trade that market watchers flagged but the company has not formally confirmed.
  • The move adds to a broader push toward U.S. regulated products because Hyperliquid is in talks with Kraken/Payward about offering selected perpetual futures through CFTC-regulated Bitnomial, while its Strategies arm continues sizable on-chain accumulation and disclosed holdings of 29.3 million tokens as of Aug. 19.
