Overview

• Ten pupils on a school trip reported abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, and six were treated at Harzklinikum Wernigerode, where the hospital says they are improving.
• The affected students are 13- and 14-year-olds from North Rhine-Westphalia.
• Part of the class ate at an Asian restaurant in Wernigerode before staying at a holiday accommodation in Sorge, and both sites were inspected.
• Food-control officers reported no abnormalities during onsite checks, but samples of raw and finished products were taken for analysis by the state consumer protection laboratory in Halle.
• Local rescue control, the veterinary and food-safety authority and the public health office are involved, and the accommodation owner said four school groups were staying with only part of one group affected.
