Haryana Starts Paddy Purchases Early as Punjab Arrivals Lag

Officials blame weather‑delayed harvesting for thin arrivals.

Overview

  • Haryana opened procurement on September 22 from Ladwa with HAFED and other state agencies operating 246 purchase centres at a minimum support price of ₹2,369 per quintal.
  • As of 6 pm on day one, officials reported 636.10 tonnes bought from 125 farmers with 20,990.79 tonnes reaching purchase centres.
  • Roughly 5 lakh farmers have registered kharif crop damage across more than 29 lakh acres due to rains and waterlogging on the e‑Kshatipurti portal.
  • Punjab’s early window has seen limited turnout so far, with only 10,392 metric tonnes procured statewide by September 22 as much of the crop remains in fields.
  • Ludhiana mandis have yet to receive government-procured paddy as sanitation clean‑ups finish and arrivals are expected to pick up around September 25–26, with 17% moisture limits and combine hours set for 10 am to 6 pm under enforcement.
