Overview

  • The Haryana Human Rights Commission took suo motu cognisance on August 13 of reports that a teenager from Bihar was forced to work at a buffalo dairy in Jind and later abandoned after a disabling injury.
  • The panel ordered the deputy commissioners of Jind and Nuh to file detailed reports within eight weeks and directed the superintendents of police to identify and arrest suspects and verify bonded labour practices at the dairy.
  • Authorities were told to produce a comprehensive medical report and prepare a rehabilitation plan for the child, including psychological counselling, education, and repatriation to his family.
  • Police registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act, but officers said no arrests have been made as the accused have not yet been traced.
  • According to accounts cited by officials and media, the boy was lured at Bahadurgarh railway station with a promise of ₹10,000 a month, injured while cutting fodder, walked a long distance to Nuh, and was rescued by government school teachers before being taken for treatment.
