Overview
- Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini spoke at the CII Innovative Farmers’ Meet, saying on Wednesday that technologies must reduce input costs, lower manual labour and show results in a farmer’s account book.
- He called for machines to be affordable, easy to use and repairable in or near villages and urged farmer groups, cooperatives and machinery-on-rent centres so a single machine can serve many farms.
- The state will train village youth to operate and repair equipment and provide agriculture services, a plan aimed at cutting farmers’ hire costs and creating rural jobs.
- Saini cited adoption and subsidy figures to back the push: about 200,000 farmers registered 300,000 acres on the Haryana natural‑farming portal, verification of roughly 23,930 farmers for 44,000 acres, 20,727 acres under natural farming in 2025–26, and 1.95 lakh PM‑KUSUM solar pumps installed with a 75% subsidy.
- The programme responds to rising weather uncertainty, growing water shortages and soil decline in the paddy–wheat belt and could speed uptake if cooperatives, rental centres and local repair networks scale effectively.
