Overview

• The gang created a counterfeit HSSC site on a third-party domain to mimic the official CET 2025 registration portal.
• Job aspirants were tricked into scanning fraudulent QR codes that directed registration fees to the scam operators.
• The main conspirator was arrested in Gorakhpur and five accomplices have been detained across Gorakhpur, Kurukshetra and Fatehabad.
• An official statement confirms that around 77 candidates were defrauded of approximately Rs 22,530 before the scheme was uncovered.
• Following an HSSC complaint, authorities removed the fake site from search results, deactivated its QR code and urged applicants to use only gov.in domains for registrations.
